Organize Your Life
April is Occupational Therapy Month.
After a car accident, injury or illness, Occupational Therapy can help you adapt; allowing you to get back to the things you love to do. There are many ways in which you can accomplish this, but getting organized is the first step. Here are a few tips on how to get your life organized.
Make a to-do list!
This might seem like a trivial thing to do, but it is a key aspect to getting organized. Whether it is a to-do list for what you want to accomplish at home or at work, it is important to write it down. Crossing things off your to-do list is very motivating.
2. Use a calendar or planner!
Writing down important up-coming dates, appointments and events, is a straightforward way to get organized and keep track of everything going on in your life.
3. Set reminders!
Setting reminders in your phone will also help keep your life organized. Life can get busy, and you might not always have time to check your calendar, or you may forget altogether. By setting reminders, you are automatically alerted when an important task needs your attention; whether it is paying a bill, meeting with a friend you previously made plans with or just a reminder that your favorite show is airing tonight.
4. Give everything a home/de-clutter!
By giving all your belongings a home and getting rid of clutter, you can eliminate a lot of stress. According to simplyproductive.com, “80% of the clutter in your home is a result of disorganization.” 80% of what we keep, we do not use anyway. An organized home goes hand in hand with an organized life.
5. Lastly, do not procrastinate!
This is the most difficult because we all do it. According to thrivemyway.com, “15% - 20% of adults procrastinate regularly.” Procrastinating will set you back and not allow you to check things off your to-do list, de-clutter, and get organized.
